A Little Taste of Travel at Last
Visiting sixteen countries in 2013 made for pretty much the best year imaginable. But, as anyone addicted to travel understands, it also fueled my wanderlust, instilling an even greater yearning to see the entire world as soon as I can. Instead, somehow, my three to six months in Australia plan turned into over a full year here (happy Australiversary to me yesterday!), which I have zero regrets about, but, having only spent the past year in Australia with a few weeks back home, I’m dying to visit new places.
Working full time, using my vacation time for trips home, and being in a country as geographically isolated as Australia, my travel options are fairly limited. So I’m completely thrilled to have booked my flights home for Christmas and to have tagged onto that trip a four-day “layover” in a place completely new to me.
I’m going to Fiji!!
First stop: back to California for almost 17 days, the longest time I’ve been home in a year, for lots of friends, family, and food. Bonus: a certain Australian boy will be joining me there on the tail-end of his first visit to the U.S. On the way back to Sydney, we’ve turned a few-hour layover into a four-day stay in Fiji.
So there you go. The flights were booked yesterday, and I finally have a new country to look forward to! I spend entirely too much time reading travel blogs, envious of their non-stop travel lives. That’s not quite my life anymore, but four days in Fiji? Well, if you insist.
Have you been to Fiji? I’d love to hear any and all tips you have!
Ahhh I’m jealous! I love Fiji – it’s just divine! Be sure to stock up on cheap Pure Fiji body products while you’re there – they’re actually the best!
Enjoy your break!
Thank you! If you have any other tips on what to do or see, let me know!
…Ah, Fiji!!…It definitely seems like it will be bliss!!…
I’m sure it will be! I can’t stop looking at photos!
Ha ha ha, another one lured by Australia! I came for a year and have just applied for residency! Travel within Australia is totally the way to go while you are here, varied and beautiful!
It seems like so many people end up staying! Easy to get sucked in!
