Waiting

I’m growing increasingly impatient about getting my placement letter! I just want to know what city I’ll be in already so I can decide for sure if I’m going!

Many future Auxiliares have been anxiously discussing possibilities for next year on Facebook groups and forums, and just a few hours ago, the first Andalucían Auxiliares began receiving their city placements. They’re coming through snail mail (oh Spain, get with the 21st century), and those who have already received their placements are current Auxiliares renewing for a second year, so the mail will take a bit longer to get to California, but it’s on its way!

A part of me is regretting not sending an email to the Junta de Andalucía requesting specific cities, as some have done (it’s not guaranteed to work, but it’s worth a shot), but there’s some fun in having no say in the placement process and ending up where fate takes me. I’ve considered the possibility of being placed somewhere that seems incredibly undesirable (like some of the towns I’ve driven through in the northern parts of the region), but we’ll deal with that if it happens. The geography of Andalucía is such that most small towns are within an hour or two of a major city, so I could always choose to live in the city and commute, but, again, we’ll deal with these things after I receive my placement!

So I’ll be here, anxiously awaiting that letter for the next few days. Wish me luck on being placed somewhere fabulous!
